Sylvia Young Theatre School

Part Time Classes

General Information & Uniform

Cafeteria

We have an onsite cafeteria which sells a wide selection of meals and drinks.  Please note due to certain students suffering from nut allergies we ask all visitors not to bring nuts or nut products into the school.

Re-Registration

It is essential for you to re-book your child's class for the next term before the end of the current term. Registration is open during the last four weeks of term for parents to re-book their child’s classes for the following term. Parents will receive an automated email advising them when they can re-book.  Just log on via the website and re-book your child’s current classes. Any parent/student wanting to change or amend their classes MUST see a member of registration staff at reception.

Students Outside of Class Times

Parents should be aware that the SYTS are not responsible for students outside of class times.
All 4-6 years primary students MUST be collected by a Parent at the end of class, they will not be allowed to leave class until collected.  Parent's must also remain on the premises at all times.
Parents of students aged 7-18 yrs should make arrangements with their child to either;

  • wait outside the classroom after their class until they are collected
  • allow their child to make their own way from class to class

SEN

Our staff does their very best to accommodate every child.  It is helpful for staff to be aware if a student is dyslexic, for example, so that support can be available in a drama or singing class to read scripts or lyrics.  Support would take the form of teacher awareness only.  We would not be able to provide an additional member of staff.
Equally, it may be helpful for dance teachers to be aware if a student is dyspraxic as the student may need more time to pick up routines.
The student would need to be able to benefit from the teaching available in the class at the same time as not impeding the learning of other students.
Should you wish to discuss any of these points with us to confirm whether the classes would be suitable for your child please feel free to contact us to arrange a meeting with the management.

Parking

Parents should be aware that there is no parking onsite or outside the building. We insist that parents should never park in residents' parking bays within the area. Please be aware that wardens also patrol the area. If you must drive your child to classes we strongly suggest that you park  and walk. ‘Pay & Go’ meters and NCP Car Parks are only a 2-minute walk away. The following link will give you a list of all local car parks and meters. Please do take a look at all the information. Parents have agreed during registration that they accept our parking rules, never parking in residents' parking bays or double parking within the area.
