Sylvia Young Agency

The Sylvia Young Agency is an independent enterprise operating within SYTS, which solely represents all students attending the full time school. Students cannot belong to another Agency. The Agency aims to secure professional opportunities for its clients in all aspects of the performing arts, encompassing theatre, TV, film, radio, audio recording, etc.

Over the years the Agency has established an excellent reputation with casting directors and others within the industry and is one of the most successful children's agencies in the UK.

It has a number of clients in West End shows including lead roles in Matilda, The Lion King, Billy Elliot, The Railway Children and Bugsy Malone as well as shows at the Royal Court, the RSC, the National Theatre, the English National Opera and elsewhere. Outside of London, its clients are appearing in the new musicals Adrian Mole and The BFG, and various touring productions.

On television, Sylvia Young Agency clients have recently appeared in high profile dramas such as Grantchester, Game of Thrones, Penny Dreadful, Doctor Who, Call The Midwife, Da Vinci’s Demons, Humans, Wolf Hall and The Interceptor, alongside sitcoms, light entertainment shows, and children's dramas. The agency also has clients engaged in presenting work for Disney, Nickelodeon and CBBC, as well as clients portraying regular characters in Eastenders, Hollyoaks and Emmerdale.

Numerous film credits include War Horse, Snow White and The Huntsman, Christ the Lord, the Harry Potter series, The Hundred-Foot Journey, What We Did On Our Holiday, the three Nativity! films and countless others.

Agency clients also voice animations, such as Bob the Builder, Jelly Jamm, Chuggington, Noddy, and Wallykazam, and have performed in various radio dramas for BBC Radio 4, BBC 4 Extra and the World Service. The agency also occasionally ventures into the music industry, working with the likes of Jessie J, Coldplay, Michael Bublé, Robbie Williams, M.I.A., Temper Trap and Kasabian.

The Agency’s aim is to secure some professional experience for every student during their time at the full time school. However it is important to remember that attending SYTS is an opportunity to train and prepare for a career in the performing arts. Any professional work that comes along should be looked on as a bonus, but it should not the sole reason for auditioning for the school.
